Ann Kite has been teaching machine knitting full time since 1984. She released her first machine knitting video in 1986, the first person to do so in the UK.
The Ann Kite machine knitting videos are quite different in character from any other. Ann says their unique style is due her using the Centre for Educational Services at a Polytechnic to make her first video.
The Centre trained Ann in how to use video to teach. Their emphasis on making an educational video, using mainly large close - ups so that knitters could see what Ann was talking about, and stepwise tuition with no steps missed out, resulted in the award winning style of the videos.
The polytechnic, now a university, continues to do the camera work for
Ann and to assist her with technical advice, ensuring the high standard set at the beginning is maintained.
